The southern half of world famous "Siesta Key Beach" is called Crescent Beach, surely because of its curved moon shape. Crescent Beach is almost completely private with almost no public access and no place to park. Virtually the entire beach is fronted with Condo Resorts
Crescent Beach starts just south of Siesta Public Beach and extends about a mile and a half until it ends at an interesting area named "Point of the Rocks". (Great place for shelling)!
All of Siesta Key Beach is great for swimmers, waders, and walkers. The slope is very gentle with very shallow water extending way out into the Gulf, making it safe and great fun for the tinest kids. The sand is wonderful for walking as you don't "sink in", making for very easy walking or jogging, (or even biking)!
Because Crescent Beach is surrounded by private condos, it tends to be less crowded than Siesta Public Beach. But remember it is all one beautiful white 3 mile long beach, there is really no distintion between Siesta & Crescent.
While it is possible to walk to the Village from anywhere on Crescent Beach, it will be from 1.5 miles to almost 3 miles away.
Many visitors staying on Crescent Beach prefer to walk south to the South Bridge Shops, which are much closer to Crescent Beach.
